Game Notes-
The Sea Dogs managed some sustained pressure in the offensive zone just past the halfway point of the first period. Nathan Beaulieu set up shop at the left point and took a pass from Gauthier. Phillips tipped Beaulieu’s point shot wide, corralled his own rebound off the back boards and wrapped around for a backhand bank-shot off Graham at 10:54 for his 23rd of the year.
Less than one minute later, Coyle chased down a Jason Seed dump-in, won a race to the puck, reached around a defender and whipped the puck in off of Graham and into the net. The goal, Coyle’s second in as many games, came at 11:43, with the other assist going to Ian Saab. The Sea Dogs kept the pressure up despite having to kill a late penalty and finished the period up 2-0.
Graham made an incredible glove save on Coyle one-timer on a 2-on-1 chance with Jonathan Huberdeau, whose 10-game points streak came to an end. The game continued with plenty of chances at both ends, including a number for the Sea Dogs where Graham shut the door. It turned into a goaltending battle in the second, as Auger made several big stops including two sprawling pad saves during a Drummondville onslaught.
Durepos extended the Sea Dogs lead with a shot from the right-wing point at 14:20 of the middle frame. Gauthier and Tomas Jurco picked up assists on the goal, the third of the season for Durepos. Phillips did a good job forcing a turnover from Graham behind the net with less than two minutes to go in the second, but couldn’t find an open player for an empty net chance. The Sea Dogs were outshot 14-7 during the second
